JUNIOR SCHOOL TERRACE is the venue used for the drumline section. The area is a large, grassed open-air venue.
The Augustine Centre is the located on the corner of Dowar Street and Fifth Avenue. The Augustine Centre hosts many QCMF sections, including Percussion Ensembles, Concert and Jazz Bands.
THE AUGUSTINE CENTRE houses the Villanova College Music Department, as well as the 500-seat Hanrahan Theatre. This is the College’s formal performance space, and is used at ALL times throughout the Festival weekend, as it is in the highest demand.
GOOLD HALL is the College’s sport gymnasium with a performance stage at one end. Prior to the Augustine Centre being built in 2005, Goold Hall housed all College concerts, musicals and various events. It is the largest indoor facility on the campus, and the only venue in the College that seats the entire student population of over 1200 boys.
VERITAS is the College’s new 4-storey Senior School precinct and classroom building, with the name referring to our College motto “Vincit Vertias” (Truth Conquers). On the bottom floor is the air-conditioned Senior Studies Centre with high ceilings and no fixed furniture. This space is transformed into a chamber concert venue for the festival which we simply call VERITAS, and it is used for smaller instrumental and vocal ensembles.
THE QUADRANGLE STAGE is used for the festival’s Contemporary Ensembles (Rock, World, Funk, etc…). As it is an outdoor venue, it has a festival atmosphere, where people can come and go as they please, eat some lunch and relax whilst being entertained. A mobile stage is set up at one end of the quadrangle. Directors, students and audience members should plan for an outdoor performance experience, and therefore bring hats, sunglasses, music pegs, and prepare for the unexpected!
TOLLE LEGE (translated: “Take and Read”) is the name of our Senior Library on the Villanova College campus. This venue will not have a full secretarial staff, so conductors are asked to submit scores to the secretary at the Augustine Centre, and parents and guests can purchase weekend passes at any other venue.
ST JAMES CHURCH is exclusively a choral venue most years.
ST JAMES CHURCH HALL is an intimate venue used for smaller choirs. All check-in, ticket sales and secretarial tasks for the Church and Hall are organised at one shared location outside the Church.
